About Anther

We are a tiny drinks company based in Arbroath, Scotland. We are named for the part of a plant from which our whole process begins. The anther is the tiny part of the stamen where pollen is produced - pollen which is transported from flower to flower by insects, perhaps most importantly by honey bees, who also use the pollen as a protein source. This pollination process is what allows new plants to grow; a crucial symbiosis between bees and plants, and a vital part of our ecosystem.

Our aim is simple - to produce small batches of honey-based alcoholic drinks, using British ingredients sourced as locally as we can, and whenever possible to use fruit that would otherwise be wasted. We are proud to work with Beekeeper®, using 100% UK-produced honey.

In 2025 we produced our first batch of Budburst, a session mead fermented with raspberry. We worked with Haygrove Evolution to produce and package this initial batch. It is our intention to sell this batch, to seed the production of the next batch ourselves, and grow in the most sustainable way possible. To this end, we are also grafting fruit trees, planning ahead for our future.

We hope you join us on our journey.
